Jakob’s Note

The Kekova region has always felt different to me from Gökova and Hisarönü. For that reason, the voyages I have made along this coastline have always stayed in my memory in a unique way. Perhaps it is the colour of the sea, or perhaps it is the appearance of the rugged shoreline. Whatever the reason, this is a place where you truly feel far removed from the pace of city life and everyday routines.

Kaş and Kalkan may seem close to each other geographically, yet they have always given me very different impressions. Kaş is livelier and has a natural energy that draws people in. Kalkan, on the other hand, feels calmer and more relaxed. As evening settles over the harbour, it becomes the kind of place where you simply want to sit quietly and gaze across the water.I cannot remember the first time I visited Kaleköy, but I remember my most recent visit very clearly. One of the remarkable things about this village is that very little changes here. Boats come and go, visitors stop to take photographs, yet the village continues to preserve the same peaceful atmosphere year after year. In my opinion, that is one of the most beautiful qualities of this entire region.

This part of the Turkish coast offers a rare sense of timelessness—where history, nature, and local life exist in perfect harmony.

Possible variations

  • Want more sailing? We can include longer open-water legs along the Datça coast.
  • Prefer marinas and villages? We can add extra time in Bodrum/Yalıkavak or Bozburun.

Nautical notes

  • In summer, the Meltemi (N-NW) can strengthen in the afternoon -leaving early is more comfortable.
  • In popular bays, stern-to with shorelines is common; the crew will handle it.
  • The route is flexible: we choose the most sheltered anchorage each day for a good night’s sleep.
