Jakob’s Note
Cruising through the Gulf of Hisarönü involves longer passages at sea. As we sail from Bodrum towards Göcek, the coastline gradually unfolds in the distance before guests suddenly find themselves surrounded by some of the most spectacular bays in the region. It is a journey that builds anticipation with every mile. Gemiler Island has always been one of my favourite stops along this route. Walking among its ancient ruins evokes a unique feeling that is difficult to describe. Sailors often believe that certain places possess a special spirit, and for me, Gemiler Island is certainly one of them. The combination of history, nature, and the sea creates an atmosphere unlike anywhere else on the coast.
At Ağa Limanı, I usually encourage guests to spend some time ashore. As you move away from the yacht, the familiar sounds of life on board gradually disappear, replaced only by the gentle sound of the wind. Sometimes, the best way to truly appreciate a bay is not from the sea, but from the land looking back towards it. This itinerary is perfect for those who enjoy longer days under sail, dramatic coastal scenery, and the feeling of discovering places that remain untouched by time.

Nautical notes
- In summer, the Meltemi (N-NW) can strengthen in the afternoon -leaving early is more comfortable.
- In popular bays, stern-to with shorelines is common; the crew will handle it.
- The route is flexible: we choose the most sheltered anchorage each day for a good night’s sleep.
